Creating Lightness

How wonderful to have some great insight from lovely guests about what gives them the #feelingthankful vibe!  Today we welcome SS Blake, who shares some reasons why she took, and continues on a minimalist path…

I use to be somewhat of a hoarder. I got it honest, as both my parents and grandparents also kept everything they ever touched. It  was always “What if we need it one day?”. Things were packed so tightly and cluttered that in some rooms you couldn’t really move.  That’s what I was used to. When I discovered minimalism, I started to learn to let things go. It was hard at first, the thought of parting with anything brought me instant anxiety. I would find sentimental value in the silliest of things. But the more I released, the easier it became and the better I could breathe. With the space I was creating, I was opening up myself and my life to better things. Everything became more meaningful. I found more purpose in myself and the things I owned. I was able to find more happiness, peace and inspiration in the world around me. Creativity seemed to flow more effortlessly through me. I was lighter than I had ever been. Minimalism has translated into becoming more of a conscious consumer and parent. It’s simplified my life and gave me more room to breathe and truly live. A side effect I hadn’t realized in the beginning is that it’s also saved me money. I’ve become addicted to the attributes minimalism has brought me and for that I am forever thankful.
