DAY 19 – Furry Fun

I’ve just booked us all on a free workshop at Pets At Home, fun activities and a bit of animal cuddling, what’s not to like?! Use the link to see if there is a store near you that has a workshop…

If don’t have a pet this is a nice way to introduce children to animals and their care – you could see if you could borrow any friends pets for a day or weekend and take care of them, or offer to walk a dog from a local shelter or foster some kittens for a short time. There are lots of ways to welcome furry animals into your home, or to visit them with children. You may have a local farm or city farm to visit some larger animals for free or frugal costs. Even feeding the ducks is a great experience for young children and allows for lots of great discussions about how animals live and what they eat.

This can feed into drawings, making wild animal homes in the garden, making a bug house…

Animal and Wildlife charities are also brilliant resources for printable worksheets and lots more, some of our favourites are WWF, Wildlife Trust, Friends of the Earth, RSPB.
