13. Swap Shop

It may be a throwback to my 80’s childhood, but I love a Swap Shop, or a Schwopping Party or whatever you want to call swapping stuff with people rather than buying stuff. The best way to do this is to set up a facebook group, invite all your local friends, school parents, local business people etc. Unless it’s something to post, it really needs to be geographical so you can collect and drop off your items.

It’s pretty easy to set up a group, on the main screen once you are logged in to your page, there is a drop down arrow (next to the ?) and on that list is ‘create group’ – that takes you to a simple form to complete, name your group and add some members. It really is that simple.

You can have one for school friends, one for specific items e.g. costumes, one for coupons or vouchers, or just a single one for all of those things.

I often have vouchers on the side of packets that we won’t use and give them away, I often need a certain DVD to watch and ask for a copy, or ideas to go with a theme – it works beautifully.
